Behind the Scenes of our Upholstery Department
It’s one thing to lay your eyes on a classic car, but when you sit behind the wheel of one it almost feels as though you’ve been taken back in time. Depending on if we are restoring a touring car or a car with race history, the interior could look simple and clean or more elevated with beautiful stitching and paneling details. Either way, you are sitting in an example of automotive history.
Our upholstery technician, Aaron Siebers, comes to MPI with 32 years of experience. Aaron started his career at K&K Upholstery in Neenah, WI working with furniture when he was just 18 years old. He eventually worked his way up to manage the store before he decided to change things up and made the transition to Gulfstream Aerospace. There he started doing more custom upholstery projects on private jets. Between the two experiences Aaron gained knowledge of the different techniques and learned to work with a variety of materials over his many years.
Now, Aaron has combined what he learned from his previous experiences and has excelled into restoring the interior of our Pebble Beach restoration projects and more. With the help of our research team, he’s learned to document and research each specific car so that he could recognize what the car looked like originally and identify any possible changes, because each car seems to be a little different. Coming from a larger company, Aaron also recognizes the importance of figuring out the best and most efficient way to complete a project so that our customers are happy with the end result. “My favorite part of the process so far is seeing all these parts come together. Our team’s common goal is to make each car look its very best, and we all strive for that on each step of the restoration”, said Aaron.
